Fall Slabbing

Nope...not talking about filling your freezer.  Even though that maybe what happens.  We are talking heavy metal!  Not the "Motor City Mad Man" or Metallica, but jigging spoons and glide baits.  Heavy baits that work well when fished vertically during the fall and early winter.  They come in all different shapes, sizes and colors, but one thing is for sure...they produce fish!

Fall Concepts

Fall fishing is in full swing in some areas and getting ready to start in others.  There are a few fall concepts you need to be aware of before the wolf pack frenzy begins.  In this episode we discuss fishing from shore for Walleye and locating fish from a boat in mid day.  We discuss baits that need to be in your box as the fall fishing frenzy approaches.  You don't want to miss the next important step as we walk you through fall fishing.

Fall Transition Bite #1

As we watch summer in our rear view mirror we notice the fish maybe a little harder to catch.  A little harder to find.  It is transition time where the fish are beginning to school up in "wolf packs" on structure and vertical presentations become the ideal method for catching more fish.  Fishing is about to get really good, but we need to keep our tactics fluid and flexible so we can keep catching those Fall Transition fish!    

Desensitized

Dog Days of Summer

It's hot.  Really hot.  It's the dog days of summer and the old guys have hung up their Walleye rods till fall.  Not so fast!  Walleyes don't just disappear or go on a hunger strike because of the heat.  They just move and there is more competition with plenty of bait.  This time of year is when you really start to learn about Walleye fishing.  

Trolling #3 Midsummer

It's midsummer and your bite close to shore has vanished.  Traditional Walleye wisdom would have you believe the fish are deep in cooler water.  That is partially true, they are in the deep water but they are suspended only a few feet down.  During the hot summer days those fish slide out from night time feeding locations and they suspend over deep water and they relate to pods of bait fish suspended over the same deep water.  Trolling #3 midsummer suspended Walleyes.  

Casting To Structure

It's summertime and the bite is on.  Little fish abound and bigger fish are a little tougher to find.  Tournaments are in full swing and boats are starting to troll for suspended fish.  Plenty of big fish are still to be had casting to structure.  

Trolling Part 2...Spinners

It's that time of year when trolling for suspended fish and fish relating to submerged structure requires some trolling skills.  Crankbaits are a great choice, but sometimes Walleyes want a little thump and a little meat to entice them to bite.  Trolling spinners is a great way to catch big Walleyes on all types of water and a tournament winning tool to have at your disposal.
